Freebie Friday: Influenster

Have you heard of Influenster?

Influenster is your ultimate shopping companion.
Discover reviews from real people like you, exclusive deals, helpful q&a, and your new favorite products!

I stumbled across an ad for it one night scrolling through Facebook or Instagram. After a little research, I decided to give it shot and here’s how it works:

  1. Download the app, sign up for your account and create your profile.
  2. Connect your social media accounts by visiting your social impact page. The more of an influencer you are on social media, the more likely you are to get a box full of freebies sent to you.
  3. Complete your snaps. Snaps are little surveys that allow them to get to know you better.

Once you’ve finished that start perusing the site/app. Explore the galleries and start interacting with others by answering questions, liking photos and writing reviews. The more you do this the more likely you are to receive a VoxBox!

What is a VoxBox?

A VoxBox is a box of free, often full-size products that Influenster delivers directly to its members for testing purposes. These products come directly from some of the biggest brands in the country. The two boxes that I have received so far have both been beauty related, but they have so much more.

I received my first Vox Box back at the end of April, probably about a month after I signed up. I received an email from them telling me that I was on the list to receive it. I had to confirm that I wanted it and complete a quick survey and confirm my address. About 2 weeks later this box of goodies showed up.

Here’s what’s inside:
Saturday Skin Wide Awake Brightening Eye Cream
Saturday Skin Bright Potion Probiotic Power Serum
VDL Expert Eye Bomb Boosting Fixer
Kaja Moon Crystal Sparkling Eye Pigment in Goddess and Mystical
Wella Invigo Brilliance Shampoo & Conditioner
Wella Invigo Brilliance Mask

My thoughts…

Saturday Skin Products – I really like both of these and still use them every day! I have very dry skin – we’re talking SAHARA! During one of my winter super dry times I was explaining my face routine to a friend, she looked at me astonished because my makeup wasn’t sliding off my face from all of the oil and moisturizer I had used. With this eye cream and serum I rarely need to use any extra moisturizer and my skin feels baby soft. At night I usually use the eye cream with my homemade all-natural face oil blend. I’ve noticed myself wearing much less in terms of foundation/concealer. I usually swipe on some BB cream, and a little concealer if my dark circles are super bad .

VDL Expert Eye Bomb Boosting Fixer – This can be used as a mascara primer, top coat or on it’s own. I have tried it all 3 ways and overall I like it. My favorite mascara is IT Cosmetics Superhero Mascara – if you haven’t tried it you are seriously missing out. I couldn’t give up my Superhero, so after trial and error my best results were when I used Superhero as my base and then the VDL Eye Bomb as a second coat. When I used the VDL as a base it seemed to get a little dry and brittle before I could put the Superhero on so it was a clumpy application. Alone it is a nice mascara, but I’m addicted to Superhero.

Kaja Moon Crystal Sparkling Eye Pigment – I want to start by saying…BEFORE THIS I WAS NOT A CREAM EYE SHADOW PERSON! I hated it. Every kind I tried always would up creasing and not being pretty at all, so I didn’t have high hopes for this stuff but I was very surprised. It goes on easily and actually dries to a nice powder-like finish. You can do a light sweep of color for everyday wear or layer it on for a super sparkly metallic look.

Wella Invigo Brilliance Products – Well….I didn’t exactly get to try these out seeing as I have no hair and all. I passed them on to a friend and she did say her hair felt super soft. This was really my only complaint. I guess they assume all females have hair. On all of the surveys, it doesn’t really give you an option for a shaved head. It’s not that I don’t need products for my head, but a scalp oil or something like that would be way more beneficial (the Shahara doesn’t just stop at my face!). It would have been nice to have a way to specify this.

Vox Box #2
My second VoxBox was a little different than the first – it only contained a single product – Perricone MD No Lipstick Lipstick in Cognac. The only color I can find online anywhere is a Rosy Pink. This lipstick is described as “A lipstick that moisturizes with natural-looking color as it improves the look of firmness, smoothness, and definition.” It’s loaded with neuropeptides, hyaluronic acid and sunscreen to hydrate and help fight aging. Added bonus – the top screws on, so it get lose in your purse!

Let me first start off by saying that to call this lipstick is a bit of a stretch, it is much more of tinted lip balm. To be fair they describe it as sheer in the description, but the name lipstick just makes me think of something more pigmented. The image on the left is the No Lipstick Lipstick all by itself. I have very faint hint of a berry color and my lips are super soft. It has a very nice feel on the lips, soft and smooth with a nice shine. Not overly glossy or sticky. You can see from the image in the middle how dark the lipstick itself is and how light it came out on me. The image on the right is the No Lipstick Lipstick paired with a berry-colored lip liner I had already had. I like it both ways. The left is great for a super casual look where I just a want a touch of color and some moisture, and the right is a good go-to color for everyday. It’s not long lasting or smudge proof. It acts just like a tinted lipbalm.

This time I wasn’t the only one that tested it out. I let my friend Steph try it. Here’s a little background – while my skin is still fairly light I do tan easy and have olive undertones. Steph, on the other hand, is WHITE, as in fair-skinned. She burns and generally buys the lightest shade of makeup they sell. She also has a more pronounced cupid’s bow than I do. On her, the No Lipstick Lipstick alone looked about like it did with the liner on me. She liked the sheerness, application and the way it felt on her lips. Her one criticism was the shape of the lipstick itself. Because it was a flat tip and not pointed or chiseled it was harder for her to properly apply it along her cupid’s bow. She loved the screw-on cap though!
